It should not be heated below 927 Degree C (1700 Degree F), where post-work annealing can be done to retain the corrosion resistance property. Nickel-Alloy K500 Stud Bolts has excellent corrosion resistance, higher creep, stress-to-rupture and tensile strength at elevated temperature, and is able to maintain clean surfaces. For optimum corrosion resistance, a post-work annealing is recommended, because Monel UNS N05500 Stud Bolts combats the tendency to pit when in contact with phosphorus acids, chlorides, bromides, and iodides. Monel N05500 Stud Bolts has excellent resistance in applications where contamination is desired to be kept to a minimum, as low carbon content allows being highly resistant to inter-granular corrosion.

The acid concentration of Alloy N05500 Stud Bolts has a marked influence on the rate of attack in such environments and should be carefully determined by service tests. Nickel-Alloy N05500 Stud Bolts has greater strength under welding; its products are stronger, because it does not respond or harden from heat treatments. At temperatures as high as 120 Degree F (49 Degree C), these Monel Alloy K500 Stud Bolts are resistant to concentrations of this acid up to 5 percent.
